Ford Motor Company is releasing it’s redesigned 2011 Ford Explorer on Facebook. Normally new designs are unveiled at auto shows. This is the first car to ever be debuted on a Social Media website. It is going to be an all day event on Facebook . On the debut day there will be videos, photos, and a question / answer session. Ford has been an early adopter and industry leader of Social Media; they have a head of Social Media, Facebook page, and about ten different Twitter accounts. They really get it. They have a promotion tied into this 2011 Explorer reveal, when they get their 30,000 ”likes” on the Facebook 2011 Explorer page they will give away one of the new cars to a Facebook fan. Social Media Marketing like this works for not only global brands like Ford Motor Company, it works for small business.
